What is the best protein supplement? That's a great question, and one that has been asked for years now. But I want to use this article to take a different spin on the subject.

To start off I want to mention that I do have what I consider to be the best protein supplement that I personally use, but I'm not even going to mention it in this article because if you're a beginner reading this (which you probably are), I would suggest that you don't even use a protein supplement to start off.

Why?

Because today's bodybuilders harp on the importance of supplements and how fantastic they are, when in actuality they really aren't going to give you the results they say they will.

So what does give you the best results?

Knowledge.

Plain and simple, knowledge is the key factor in determining how much success you'll have with your fitness goals. It doesn't matter if you're trying to gain muscle, lose weight, gain muscle and lose weight at the same time, add buy bulk n acetyl l cysteine nutritional supplement get more power, etc.

Knowledge is the key to everything you'll accomplish.

If you look up the search term "best protein supplement" and pick out one that you think will be the best for you, there's a great chance you're going to skip on a lot of other (and more important) aspects of nutrition.

You'll start to think of protein supplements as a meal replacement when in actuality they're not!

Protein supplements won't help you lose weight

If your goal is to lose weight - the best protein supplement in the world isn't going to be as effective as real, natural food.

This is because real food has a thermogenic affect on your body. That is, it uses up calories to burn the food you're digesting. However, with protein shakes this doesn't occur.

As an extreme example, just say 2 people eat 600 calories worth of protein in a day. Person 1 eats real protein and person 2 drinks the best protein supplement on the market.

By eating real food, person 1 is going to burn off about 200 calories when digesting that protein. Person 2 will have burned off zero, zilch, nadda.

See what I'm getting at? These numbers add up very quickly after awhile and may be the breaking point between losing weight and hitting a plateau.

Although there are some great protein supplements available, in my opinion the best protein supplement is real food (which isn't even a supplement) because of the thermogenic affect and because it forces you to learn the knowledge it takes to lose weight and keep it off.

Stop looking for a best protein supplement and start learning how to lose weight and gain muscle without needing any supplements.
